Learning at AMS
Arthur Miller School is committed to delivering on its core business of 'learning'. It is a place that is committed to building the necessary knowledge and competencies for students to thrive and succeed in learning and life.
We have a supportive and active community who fully involve themselves in school life. The staff are open, fun and willing to do what ever it takes to ensure that each learner is stretched and experiences enjoyment in learning.
The school is forward thinking in its philosophy of learning, purposeful in selecting the right staff and creatively utilises open modern learning environments to ensure learning is social, open, engaging and real.
The School’s learning philosophy rests on three key values – being Caring (Kia Manaakitanga), Collaborative (Kai Mahitahi) and Curious (Kia Pākiki). Through these three values we progressively build learner capacity.
Teachers explicitly teach learners strategies to get out of ‘I’m stuck’ situations. Being stuck is celebrated and harnessed as an opportunity to build individual’s learning capacity.
The learning process is intentionally taught to enable learners to proactively advance their own learning, problem finding and problem solving, to face their changing future with confidence.
