Jenni Beaven

Jenni is the Reading Recovery teacher for Arthur Miller School. She primarily works with the younger students.

Hello – I’m Jenni.
As the Reading Recovery teacher at Arthur Miller School I focus on specific literacy needs of several children who have been selected to take part in this individualised, world renown programme. Daily Reading Recovery lessons are provided to individual students for up to 20 weeks, if necessary. I may also assist students requiring extra Literacy Support, working with them in with a small group situation. As SENCO, I am involved in co-ordinating programmes with the help of Chris Durham, liaising with specialist personnel, and overseeing the work of our invaluable team of Teacher Aides who support children with specific learning needs throughout our School. I am also the worksite representative for NZEI, the Education Union for Teachers/Support Staff. I have had a long and very enjoyable association with Arthur Miller School, dating back as far as 1980, with a gap in between when I stayed at home while our 3 sons grew up. Now all 3 sons are married, 2 have family of their own and our 6 grandchildren bring me great delight!
